Baltimore Orioles vs The New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York : Moiderer's Row

OK, got it all wrong on the pitching last night as Andrew Cashner continued his mastery over the New York Yankees, no matter what uni he rocks. Tonight the pinstripes will face Kevin Gausman, who sports a 7-5 record in 16 career starts against New York. He’s struck out 85 in 102.1 innings, holding a very respectable 3.53 ERA.

  • Yanks are 4-2 as the straight up favorite in this young season.

Kevin Gausman ($5,600) vs The Yankees

Gausman had a rough initial outing for the 2018 season. He was shelled by the Minnesota Twins, who scored 6 ER in 4 innings, including 3 home runs. He’ll try to work down his 13.50 ERA against a Yankee lineup that sees him pretty well stats-wise, but look for Gausman to rack up a decent amount of strikeouts. Here’s who to consider drafting (or not) in the Yankees lineup against Kevin Gausman:

  • Brett Gardner ($4,100) : Gardy hits Gausman at a .325 clip (13-40) with a home run, 2 doubles and 4 walks. The speedy outfielder is off to a slow start overall, hitting just .172 (5-29) over the first 7 games of the season. But that does not always transfer to bad fantasy numbers. No matter what his average is, or what kind of steak he is on, Gardner will always turn in quality ABs, working counts, getting walks and stealing bases. Not to mention scoring runs when the big guys behind him are smacking the ball around.
  • Aaron Judge ($5,300) : Small sample but a solid one. Judge is 6-12 (.500) off the Birds righty, with 3 home runs, and 4 walks. It’s worth noting that against the Baltimore Orioles overall, All-Rise has already slugged 12 home runs off them in his short time in the majors.
  • Gary Sanchez ($4,900) : The Kracken is 4-13 (.308) with a home run off Guasman, but he’s struggling big time at the plate right now. Sanchez is 2-26 (.077), with a double and home run for the pair of hits.
  • Didi Gregorius ($4,700) : Sir Didi is 8-30 (.267) career with 2 doubles and no home runs off Gausman. And while Didi had a big fat zero in Draft Kings points last night, its safe to say that shouldn’t last long. He has shot out of the gate hitting .391 with 2 huge home runs and 9 RBI — 8 of them in one MLB record-setting game. Gregoruis is well worth the $4,700 outlay.

CC Sabathia ($7,900) vs Baltimore Orioles

Let’s see if The Big Man’s ‘stopper’ status will continue into 2018. Last season Sabathia was 10-0 with a 1.69 ERA in 13 starts following a Yankees loss. You simply can’t do it better than that. There’s a deep well of matchup history numbers between Sabathia and the Orioles.
In 2017, out of all opponents Sabathia faced, the Orioles gave him the most grief. Over 3 starts that combined for 17.1 innings, the Birds plated 14 ER in 17 innings with 23 hits, resulting in a 7.41 ERA. Here’s who to consider drafting (or not) in the Baltimore lineup against Pitcher:

  • Manny Machado ($4,200) : Machado is hitting .353 (18-51) off The Big Man, with 6 doubles and 3 home runs. Manny is off to a slow start in 2018, going 6-27 (.222) with 7 strikeouts, and is yet to smack a homer so far.
  • Adam Jones ($3,700) : Historically, Jones has seen Sabathia pretty well, with a career .305 BA (24-79) including 5 home runs and 15 RBI. Jones is off to a hot start so far this season (.286 with 3 home runs), and no reason to think that won’t continue over this series.
  • Chris Davis ($3,100) : You may want to avoid the slugging first-baseman in tonight’s contest. Davis is 9-45 (.200) with 20 Ks and one home run. Plus the fact that Davis is off to a atrocious 2018 start — going 2-25 (.080).

THE FINE PRINT : The fantasy lineup suggestions are purely speculation and should not be taken as gospel. Anything can and will happen in a baseball game, but this content is designed to provide a starting point for your lineup research. Best of luck, and let’s go Yankees!
