Game 87 | 47-40, 1st : Three things are certain in life — death, taxes, and the unknown rookie pitcher defeating the New York Yankees. It’s the surest bet one can make in professional sports gambling. This time it was Boston’s Eduardo Rodriguez, who made his major league debut on May 28th of this year, going 6.1 innings allowing 2 earned runs. Ivan Nova pitched well enough to earn a victory if he had any offense, but no such luck today.

Here’s the box score, full recap, and video highlights.

  • Adam Warren   Warren did not record an out in tonight’s relief appearance, but no knock on him. I’m thinking he’s off axis with his new assignment to the ‘pen. Warren is adjusting to a new routine, one he’s mastered in the past but coming off a long stretch of starting, this can’t be easy.
