Chris Capuano pitches 6 scoreless innings ve Tampa on 9/15/2014.
WARMING UP: Chris Capuano pitches six scoreless frames, allowing just two hits and striking out four batters for the Yankees.

GAME 149: Capuano did a great job through six. Striking out two, Dellin Betances now has 130 Ks in 86.2 innings this season tying the great Mariano Rivera(107.2 innings) for most strike outs in a single season. Alas, with Betances making history himself, the Yanks still fall to the Rays 1-0 by virtue of a Ben Zobrist bases loaded RBI single in the bottom of the 9th.
Here’s the box score and recap.

MEMORY LANE: In 1958, the Yankees win their 24th pennant, and 9th under Casey Stengel, winning Game One against the A’s, 5 – 3. This ties Casey for first with Connie Mack for the most AL pennants won. New York completes the sweep with a 12 – 7, 14-inning win in game 2. Virgil Trucks allows two hits over the last six innings for the win.
