Opening Day at Yankee Stadium 2015

GAME 1 : Yeah, it’s only Opening Day. One game. No reason to panic, right? But when the box score reveals 6 out of the 9 starting hitters without a batting average, the sense of dread that permeated the entire last two seasons is back in full force. That’s all it took. One game — but if you watched the team closely in Florida, it was more of the same.

PRE-GAME ROUNDUP

Finally! Beautiful afternoon in The Bronx, nice hand for A-Rod, Joe Torre tossed out the ceremonial opening pitch, and the 2015 campaign is underway. For the first time since 2009, the Opening Day starting pitcher will be someone other than CC Sabathia, as ace Masahiro Tanaka gets the nod.
The Yankees all-time Opening Day record is 75-37 (.650), and today will be only the second time in club history they’ll open against the Toronto Blue Jays. Great to hear Kay and Kenny in the booth again for a game that counts!
Let’s get busy. Here’s the Opening Day starting lineup:

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury CF
  2. Brett Gardner LF
  3. Carlos Beltran RF
  4. Mark Teixeira 1B
  5. Brian McCann C
  6. Chase Headley 3B
  7. Alex Rodriguez DH
  8. Stephen Drew 2B
  9. Didi Gregorius SS

RHP Masahiro Tanaka
Let’s go Yankees!
