In his first career start against The Bronx Bombers, Astros’ right-hander Collin McHugh cruised through 8 easy innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 8, while retiring 17 of the last 18 batters he faced. The 3-1 victory for Houston split the four game series at two, and again the Yankees failed to gain ground on the Tampa Rays, who were defeated by Boston earlier. The Yanks fell to third place (by percentage points) after Baltimore’s win over Cleveland.
