In Derek Jeter’s last game, Michael Pineda put on an excellent performance through 6 innings. Pineda gave up a single in the first then struck out the next three. He struck out four of the next ten batters he retired. Derek Jeter would knock Ichiro in with an infield-single. An unlikely pinch-runner Brian McCann would take Jeter’s place at first. Before making his way off the field, Jeter would acknowledge Clay Buchholz and the Red Sox. Tipping his cap to his long time rivals.
The Yankees would deafeat the Red Sox 9-5 with a strong bullpen and great innings by David Phelps and Adam Warren.
