Yankees & MLB Fantasy Roundup for Tuesday, June 5, 2018

The following suggestions are for the 4:05pm EST time slot of contests, which include the Yankees-Blue Jays matchup.

Marco Estrada ($4,100). The Blue Jays right-hander has been said to have the best changeup in all of baseball, a pitch he mastered at the start of his career in the Washington Nationals organziaion, circa 2008.
Estrada’s change and four-seam fastball, which tops out around 90 MPH, induce a higher than average rate of flyballs.
Since 2015, Estrada has a 6-3 record in 14 starts against the Bombers, pitching to a 3.86 ERA and allowing 17 home runs and 33 walks over 84 innings.
In 2018, tonight will be his third start against the Yankees and second at home. In the season’s opening series at Rogers Centre, Estrada made the start on March 31st, where Tyler Austin’s 2 home runs cost him the victory. He also faced the Yankees at The Stadium on April 20th, where he earned a ‘W’ in Toronto’s 8-5 victory. Estrada went only 5 innings and gave up 5 earned runs on 3 homers, but Sonny Gray failed to get out of the 4th inning, and the bullpen (Domingo German and Adam Warren) couldn’t keep Toronto off the board either.
Estrada has not won a game since, losing his last 5 decisions, and not figuring in the another two.

CC Sabathia ($5,900). The Big Man is looking to improve on his previous start where he turned with tide win a win after 3 straight losses. Since 2015, CC is 1-3 over 6 starts in Rogers Centre, allowing 5 home runs and walking 9 over 23.2 innings.

Who to Stack Against Estrada

Gary Sanchez ($4,300). With apologies to Tom Waits, Gary Sanchez is colder than a ticket-taker’s smile at The Ivar Theatre on a Saturday night — AND he only has 4 hits against Estrada in 21 at-bats. The catch is all 4 have been home runs, and if anyone in MLB is due, it’s Sanchez.

Giancarlo Stanton ($4,800). Priced right and about to bust out. The defending MLB home run champ has 4 long balls against Estrada in 17 ABs, along with 2 doubles.

Tyler Austin ($3,600). Austin will be the DH tonight, so you’ll have to take him as a first baseman in Draft Kings. The powerful young right-handed hitter has 3 home runs against Estrada in 5 ABs.

Who CC Has To Be Careful With

Russell Martin ($2,700). Sabathia’s old battery mate. Martin loves to make life miserable for the Yankees and has hit CC decently over the years, 8-28 with a home run and 4 walks. And boy is the price right on this one.
Remember this is for speculation only, not meant to be taken as gospel. And don’t forget to double-check your lineup(s) just prior to game time as the weather may create havoc for you. We exist under the manta that “You can’t predict baseball” but it’s fun trying. Good luck with your lineup and let’s go Yankees!
