Three things are working against the Mets for tonight’s finale of the Queens end the the 2018 Subway Series. Noah Syndergaard was scratched from starting. They’ve lost 8 games in a row. And the Bronx Bombers are so overdue for a top-of-the-lineup-to-bottom offensive outburst it’s not funny. Trust me, Yankee fans haven’t been laughing for a while now.

The following suggestions are for the 5:05pm EST contest slot in Draft Kings (Showdown mode) which features the Yankees-Mets matchup.

Tonight’s Pitching Matchup

Severino Shoots for 10-1 Record

Luis Severino ($18,000). Ouch! 18 Large is a whammy on any lineup budget, but this one should be well worth it.
This will be Severino’s second career start in Citi Field. In On August 17, 2017 he scattered 4 hits and 1 earned run over 6 innings to pick up a win, striking out 9 in the process.
PREDICTION: Sevy is the anchor of the 2018 rotation, which took yet another hit by losing Tanaka for a month. No way he goes to sleep on the struggling Mets tonight. Look for 7 or 8 strong innings and double digit strikeouts.

Who Could Give Sevy Trouble?

Asdrubal Cabrera ($5,500) Cabrera launched a home run against Domingo German in the first inning oblast night’s game and is leading the hitting-challenged Mets in batting average, RBI, runs scored and surprisingly — home runs (11).
Just for fun, Severino might want to keep an eye on Jose Bautista ($5,000), who is the only current Met to homer off him. Once again that Blue Jays uni of his haunts pinstripe starters — but Sevy has struck Joey Bats out 7 times in 13 at-bats.

Lugo Short and Sweet Tonight?

Seth Lugo ($12,200). With a curveball and sinker that results in an above-average number of ground balls, the right-handed Lugo has been quietly putting together a nice 2018 season. He has been used exclusively in relief except for a start against the Chicago Cubs on May 31st, where in threw 4 shoutout innings and didn’t figure in the decision. The Mets lost 5-1 and showed no pitcher is immune from a lack of run support.
One consideration with drafting Lugo could be length — given the vast majority of his work has come out of the bullpen this season, he may be on manager Mickey Calloway’s short lease tonight.
PREDICTION: Lugo should keep Bronx bats off balance into the second time around the order, which by then his pitch count may be a concern. After that, the lumber comes out to play and the Yankees should assume a protectable lead.

Who Could Give Lugo Trouble?

Giancarlo Stanton ($9,700) Once again Stanton is a recommended pick from his NL experience facing the Mets. Small sample but Giancarlo has 3 hits in 7 ABs with a home run and a double against Lugo.

Aaron Judge ($10,400) All rise! We’re going with Judge here for his ability to sit on a major league curveball and put it in the cheap seats. UPDATE: Aaron Judge is not in the starting lineup.

Miguel Andujar ($7,500) Still relatively affordable, the budding superstar third-sacker is a dangerous hitter, particularly against righties (.333 BA) and 6 of his 8 home runs against.
Check back before game time for any critical updates.
Remember this is for speculation only, not meant to be taken as gospel. And don’t forget to double-check your lineup(s) just prior to game time as the weather may create havoc for you. We exist under the manta that “You can’t predict baseball” but it’s fun trying. Good luck with your lineup and let’s go Yankees!
