GAME 160: Meaningless games in late September games between the Yankees and Red Sox are rare, but tonight some of the future was on display for New York, and it looked bright.

Kids come through

Two passed balls get Eury Perez to second. Francisco Cervelli knocked him in on a single. A single by Chris Young and an error by Mookie Betts brings Cervelli home. John Ryan Murphy doubles and Austin Romine singles, Zealous Wheeler knocked in John Ryan Murphy with a sac fly getting the Yanks their third run.

Another Solid Capuano Start

Capuano only allowed one unearned run in 6.2 innings striking out five. Shawn Kelley first pitch left the stadium off of Rusney Castillo’s bat. Adam Warren pitched a perfect eighth inning. D-Rob allowed a leadoff grounder then struck out two in the ninth obtaining his 39th save of the season.
Here’s the box score.
