PINSTRIPES IN PHILLY, LITERALLY; HAPP LOOKING TO GET ON TRACK

The Yankees (8-1) will be rocking the pinstripes in Game One of today’s 7-inning doubleheader versus the Phillies (1-3) at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, as they’ll be considered the home team — to make up for yesterday’s scheduled game in The Bronx that the tropical storm took care of.

BALLPARK CONDITIONS : After Hurricane Isaias did a number on the area yesterday, forecasts for game time today iclude temps of 86° under sunny skies and a mild 8mph westerly breeze.

PITCHING MATCHUP : The Phillies will go with righty Zack Wheeler (1-0, 1.29 ERA, $10,000) who is making his second start of 2020. He tossed 7 strong innings for the victory against the Marlins on July 25th’s season opener.

Wheeler’s repertoire includes a mid-90s four-seam fastball, a 87mph cutter, a change up and curve, both in the high-70s. He generates the most swings and misses with his cutter and change up. He last faced the Yankees on July 3, 2019 as a New York Met, scattering 5 hits over 6.1 innings while striking out 8. Wheeler did not factor in the decision for the Met’s 4-2 win.

The Yankees will start lefthander J.A. Happ (0-0, 9.00 ERA, $9,300), who was touched up early by the Baltimore Orioles on July 30th but settled down to complete 4 innings but did not factor in the decision.

Happ has not faced the Phillies since 2018, and only five times total in his 13-year MLB career, holding the club to a .188 BA over 112 total ABs against.

YANKEES HITTING NOTES :

• All small samples, but two Yankees took Wheeler deep in 2019: 3B Gio Urshela ($4,500) and 1B Luke Voit ($3,900)
• OF Aaron Judge ($5,300) failed to homer in Monday’s game, after going deep for the previous 6 straight. He remains red-hot and is a must for your lineup.

PHILLIES HITTING NOTES :

• One guy we’re always nervous about is old-friend SS Didi Gregorius ($3,800) — especially at this value price.
• With only 4 games under their belt, the hitting stats are easy to analyze but it never hurts to go with the power guys — like OF Jay Bruce ($3,400), who went yard off Gerrit Cole.
• Also keep an eye on 3B/OF Phil Gosselin ($2,600), who is at a bargain basement price as he’s leading the team in most hitting categories.

INJURED LIST : Yankees on the IL include Aroldis Chapman and Luis Severino (elbow, out for the season) and Tommy Kahnle (forearm, out for the season, Tommy John).

Phillies on the IL include P David Robertson (elbow, 60-Day), P Seranthony Dominguez (elbow, 60-Day).
